Lift pump noises. So some people may have noticed I posted a topic asking about a lift pump on my MK3 Mondeo 2.0L Estate. I was told by a garage that it didn't have a lift pump and the loom in the bulkhead needed replacing as it was frayed. Well turns out it does have a lift pump and they were lying so don't know what they charged £600 for and
3036 posts · Joined 2009. #3 · Sep 21, 2013. Syphon it from the tank. Pop a bit of hosepipe down the filler pipe and drain it into cans. Cut one end at an angle and if you slowly rotate the pipe it will go into the tank then suck on it to get the fuel flowing. 2004 Hatchback 130 TDCI Inkblue 564.000 Miles. (Retired)
It took me quite a long time to find out but after discarding there wasn´t any kind of lift pump located on the fuel tank (Mondeo MK3 does have one there), and that it was indeed integrated among the common rail pump like other PSA engines usually do. I replaced this rubber seal and now car works like a charm with 270000 Km. June 2021 – Fuel pump ‘examined’ by ‘specialist’ and pronounced ‘in good order’ Seven months of further diagnostics (involving hours of effort and expensive labour) following advice found here and on other forums to no avail: February 2022 – Fuel pump examined by a different ‘specialist’ and found to be faulty.
